Office WiFi Not Working?

Weak or unstable office WiFi slows employees down, interrupts video calls, makes cloud services harder to use and creates daily interruptions. NBG TEAM helps businesses in Belgrade identify whether the issue is caused by access points, signal coverage, router, firewall, VLAN settings, network congestion or the internet connection itself.

When poor WiFi becomes a business problem

Office WiFi often seems like a minor detail until it starts interrupting work. When employees lose connectivity, video calls drop, cloud applications open slowly, laptops cannot see the network or devices keep roaming between access points, productivity is directly affected.

The internet connection itself may not be the cause. Poor access point placement, congested channels, ageing WiFi equipment, incorrect router or VLAN configuration, too many devices, a faulty cable or a switch problem can all create the same symptoms.

A WiFi issue should therefore be treated as part of the complete network infrastructure, not simply as a question of whether a signal is visible.

Office employees experiencing unstable WiFi during daily business work
Weak signal, interrupted video calls and devices without a stable connection often point to coverage or network configuration issues.

Common symptoms

  • office WiFi is not working
  • WiFi signal is weak
  • wired internet works but WiFi does not
  • WiFi is visible but there is no internet
  • a laptop keeps losing its connection
  • video calls keep dropping
  • one area of the office has no signal
  • employees have internet but guests do not
  • the guest WiFi network is not working
  • devices cannot connect to WiFi
  • WiFi becomes slow when more employees are present
  • phones have signal but laptops do not
  • printers or scanners are unavailable over WiFi
  • VPN does not work over WiFi
  • WiFi disappears and returns intermittently

What you can check before calling us

Collecting a few basic details helps identify whether the issue is the WiFi network, internet connection, access point, computer or configuration.

  • whether everyone or only one user is affected
  • whether internet works over a network cable
  • whether the WiFi network is visible
  • whether the issue affects the whole office or one area
  • whether phones and laptops are both affected
  • whether access points were moved
  • whether there was a power outage
  • whether the router, firewall or switch was recently changed
  • whether the issue began after a password change
  • whether guest WiFi works
  • whether the issue appears when more people are in the office

We do not recommend randomly resetting routers, firewalls or access points if you are unsure how they are configured. A reset can remove important settings, VLANs, guest networks or security rules.

What NBG TEAM checks

WiFi access points
Operation, connectivity, configuration, firmware, power and communication with the rest of the network.
Signal coverage
Dead zones and the effect of walls, floors, glass partitions and office layout.
Channels and congestion
Interference between networks and channel settings needed for more stable service.
Router, firewall and switch
DHCP, DNS, VLANs, firewall rules, switch ports and cables leading to access points.
Guest WiFi
Internet access for guests without access to internal business files and devices.
VLAN segmentation
Separate networks for employees, guests, cameras, POS devices or administration.
Employee devices
WiFi adapters, Windows settings, drivers, passwords, network profiles, antivirus and VPN.
IT technician diagnosing business WiFi access points and network equipment
Diagnostics cover access points, cabling, switches, routers, firewalls and actual office signal coverage.

One router is not enough for a serious office

One reliable router may be enough in a very small space, but it is often not the best solution for a business. Offices with several rooms, employees, laptops, phones, printers, guests and business applications should plan WiFi as part of their network infrastructure.

A professional setup usually includes one or more access points, correctly installed cabling, switches, separate employee and guest networks, security rules and documented configuration.

Remote diagnostics or on-site visit

If the network partially works and the router, firewall or access points can be reached, some diagnostics can be performed remotely. This is useful for checking configuration, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, guest networks and basic settings.

An on-site visit is needed to assess signal coverage, access point placement, cables, physical ports, power supply and equipment location, or when remote access is unavailable.

Remote support most often solves:

  • access point configuration
  • guest WiFi issues
  • DHCP and DNS problems
  • VLAN settings
  • user password issues
  • some router and firewall problems
  • single-computer connectivity issues

An on-site visit is needed for:

  • WiFi signal measurement
  • installing or moving access points
  • cables and network ports
  • switches and PoE power
  • physical equipment installation
  • poor coverage in part of the office
  • situations where the whole network is unavailable

If the WiFi issue keeps coming back

If office WiFi keeps dropping, signal is weak or the issue returns whenever more people connect, restarting the router is not enough. A network infrastructure review should cover device count, access points, channels, cabling, switches, internet connection, VLAN settings and network load.

In these situations, managed IT maintenance can also be useful. Recurring problems are then documented and corrected instead of being diagnosed from scratch every time.

When emergency IT support is needed

If WiFi is unavailable across the office and employees cannot use business applications, video calls, cloud services or shared files, the issue should be treated as urgent. We first make a quick assessment and attempt remote diagnostics, then organise an on-site visit when required. See how our emergency IT support works.

Frequently asked questions

What should we do if office WiFi is not working?
First check whether the issue affects the whole company or only one user, whether internet works over a network cable, whether the WiFi network is visible and whether the issue affects the whole office or only one area. If several users are affected, network diagnostics is needed.
Why is WiFi slow even when the internet connection is not slow?
The cause may be weak signal, poor access point placement, congested WiFi channels, too many devices, old equipment, a faulty cable, a switch issue or incorrect network configuration.
What if wired internet works but WiFi does not?
The likely cause is the WiFi equipment, an access point, its settings or power supply, the cable leading to the access point or the wireless signal itself.
Can you diagnose a WiFi problem remotely?
Part of the issue can be checked remotely when there is access to the router, firewall or access points. Signal coverage, cables, equipment placement and physical installation require an on-site visit.
Do you configure guest WiFi for businesses?
Yes. We can configure a guest WiFi network that provides internet access without allowing guests to reach internal business devices, servers, NAS systems or shared folders.
Can one router be enough for an office?
It may be enough for a very small office, but a more serious business environment often needs separate access points, correct placement, reliable network equipment and separate employee and guest networks.
Do you provide on-site support in Belgrade?
Yes. When the issue involves physical WiFi equipment, signal coverage, cables, switches, access points or office layout, we organise an on-site visit in Belgrade.
Do you work only with businesses?
Yes. NBG TEAM works with companies and legal entities that need IT support, network infrastructure and business system maintenance.
